Broadcast media personality, Ayisha Yakubu of TV3, has spoken against stereotypes in Zongo communities.

According to the “Women Choice Awards” nominee, the behavior of some people coming from the Zongo is the reason they are being stereotyped against.

People hold the notion that Nima and Mamobi are full of vagabonds but that’s not the case.

She made reference to Media General’s  “Community Debate” which involved two aspiring MPs of the major political parties to come forth and present their plans to electorates.

It started from Achimota to Madina. Unfortunately when it got to the turn of Nima, it ended in confusion and the program couldn’t continue. she said

According to her, when the news reached the office, her colleagues were disappointed and said they knew it will happen. She was sad because she’s a Zongo girl and a proud one as such.

She then advised that should anyone be contracted to fight on behalf of any political party, the person  should decline such an invite because it’s not necessary.

“Let the big men fight their fight. They have body guards. stay away from violence”

She concluded.

Her colleague in the media space, Abdul Hayi Moomen was present at the community dialogue on peace organised by the Journalists Netwrok for Peace and Security which took place at Mamobi on 12th Spetember, 2020.

Among the people that graced the occasion were Hon. Yussif Jajah (MP for Ayawaso North), aspiring MP for Ayawaso North on the tickets of the NPP, Alhaji Abdul Manaf and chaired by Alhaji Salisu Maude, Zongo Youth Chief.
