Following Parliament’s approval for the Electoral Commission (EC) to compile the new voters register on June 30, 2020, the Directorates of the Ghana Education (GES) have caution all JHS 3 teachers, to exempt themselves from the upcoming voter’s registration exercise not even as temporary Staff.
A report gathered from some of the Directorate indicates that none of the JHS 3 teachers shall be allowed to partake in the 40 days Electoral exercise in the country.
A Directorate explained that the Electoral commission’s registration exercise is expected to be completed in 40 days which falls within the 11 weeks BECE candidates will be in school.
He added that this will allow teachers to have ample time with the candidates as they have few months to sit for their 2020 Basic Education Certificate Examination.
The Minister for Education, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh has assured that the government will equip teachers and students with nose/face masks, veronica buckets and a COVID-19 testing thermometer gun for each school in a district.
The President’s in his 10th nation’s address directed that the Junior High School class should have a minimum of 30 students with 4 hours of constant teaching and learning each day (9 am to 1 pm). and a 15 minutes break.
