The Speaker of Parliament, Prof Mike Oquaye has portrayed as inadmissible what he terms as the one-sided revelation of COVID-19 consequences of people in broad daylight.

As indicated by him, people including MPs must stop such acts.

The Speaker’s remarks come when there are logical inconsistencies from the authority of Parliament on the genuine condition of the quantity of people who are COVID-19 constructive after a week ago’s trying activity in the House.

The Minority Chief Whip, Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka, had prior demanded that two of his kindred Members of Parliament (MPs) and 13 parliamentary staff have tried positive for the novel coronavirus infection otherwise called COVID-19.

“What occurred in Parliament and what you heard [about reports of MPs testing positive] is the reality. It is reality,” Mr. Muntaka said.

Addressing the issue in the House on Wednesday, Prof. Oquaye said such drama powers belittling.

“It is extremely obvious from our conversations toward the beginning of today that you can’t singularly place into the open domain that an individual is sure. Each individual knows this in this Republic and it has been all around expressed in this respectable House. You can’t singularly place into the open domain that an individual is certain.”

“It is just for a person to intentionally place this in the open domain and we are on the whole gaining from this as better than average and fair individuals and this House will follow that sort of model. That is our open obligation… We should show that we are not in a rush to unveil names deserving of a feature and it is my view that such sentimentality which is going on must stop since they rather empower belittling. At the point when you sensationalize the news, you energize slander,” the Speaker of Parliament said.

MPs’ COVID-19 test outcomes won’t be made open – Medical Services Director

The Director of Medical Services in Parliament, Dr. Sovereign Pambo has said the aftereffects of the tests won’t be made open.

He said the outcomes will rather be made known exclusively to the people tried without the association of Parliament.

“The activity was implied for Members of Parliament as well as the staff of Parliament also and other care staff who have an obligation in the parliamentary region and the outcomes will be made known to them separately,” he said.
