Beginning from February 2020, Social Security and National Insurance(SSNIT) will halt monthly benefit payments to all pensioners who fail to do biometric registration with the scheme.

Names of pensioners who are not registered biometrically will be deleted automatically on January 31st 2020, according to a release from the scheme. All members were asked to re-register with the scheme biometrically in 2014 and were reminded from time to time to do so.

“there are some pensioners who are yet to go through the biometric registration process” SSNIT said

“The Trust would like to once again remind all its cherished pensioners who are yet to re-enrol biometrically to visit the nearest SSNIT Branch to do so, not later than January 31, 2020”.

Failure to abide by the latest directive means there will be a stop to monthly payments until biometric re-registration is done.
